Created Issue: Error While Running ASp.NET MVC StoreFront [10080]

Hi,

I am able to build the application as well I pointed to the correct database.

Solution is building, but when I try to run the application I am getting an error

Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: httpContext
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: httpContext

I am using Visual Studio 2008 with ASP.NET MVC 1.0

Any help will be appreciated.

the error occurs in the index page in this line

<title><%=this.SiteData().SiteName %>: <%=this.CurrentPage().Title %></title>

becase of the error.....the main content of the page is not loaded

I'm missing something or doing something wrong?

Same problem also, my settings on regional settings and web.config file has already the <globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en"/> still problem exist.

any other suggestions to solve the issue?

When I run Part 8 of MVC Storefront in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following error.Does anybody have any ideas what is going wrong?

When I open the solution, it gets converted to VS2010. It asks if I want to upgrade to .NET 4.0. Have tried yes and no, but still get same issue.

Hi - I just tried to build the latest Kona build and there seems to be some dependencies missing that are referenced in the Kona.Web Project
These are -
FredCK.CKEditorV2.dll
Microsoft.Dynamic.dll
Microsoft.Scripting.dll
Microsoft.Scripting.Core
Microsoft.Scripting.ExtensionAttribute

When i load the soultion i get the following error

The project file "\\home\username\Data\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\Commerce.MVC\Commerce.MVC.Web\Commerce.MVC.Web.csproj" cannot ne opened. The project type is not supported by this installation.

Is this is because i have a different version of ASP.NET MVC Framework installed? What version are these samples written in?

Please assist.

For those of you who are having this problem, I took the steps below to correct this.

1) Download latest version of MVC Framework and install it. (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=185037)
2) Edit the .csproj file for the MVC project in your text editor.
3) The ProjectTypeGuids need to be updated as the sample app must have been created with a different version. I replaced the existing <ProjectTypeGuids> element with this: <ProjectTypeGuids>{F85E285D-A4E0-4152-9332-AB1D724D3325};{349c5851-65df-11da-9384-00065b846f21};{fae04ec0-301f-11d3-bf4b-00c04f79efbc}</ProjectTypeGuids>. This is similar to what vl_itchie wrote above but instead of web application project Guids this is using the MVC Project Guids. You can verify the Guids on your machine by temporarily adding an ASP.NET MVC application, opening up its .csproj file in your text editor and comparing the Guids in <ProjectTypeGuids> with the MVC Sample project file.

Rather than providing a .bak file could we get a SQL script or something to create/install the database. As the solution is now under 2008 (I think) why not provide a datadude project so we can just right click and deploy the database? That way you can modify the project and continue to update the database without the need to redistribute binary backup files.

I kept getting the following error when I opened the Solution or the Kona.Web project:

The project file 'C:\...\Kona.Web\Kona.Web.csproj' cannot be opened.

The project type is not supported by this installation.

I looked everywhere, and tried everything suggested, but could not find a solution - finally, I just started messing around with the file on my own (using some of what I read and some of my intution), and finally found the solution.

In the file I changed:

<ProjectTypeGuids>{603c0e0b-db56-11dc-be95-000d561079b0};{349c5851-65df-11da-9384-00065b846f21};{fae04ec0-301f-11d3-bf4b-00c04f79efbc}</ProjectTypeGuids>

to:

<ProjectTypeGuids>{349c5851-65df-11da-9384-00065b846f21};{fae04ec0-301f-11d3-bf4b-00c04f79efbc}</ProjectTypeGuids>

AND deleted this:

<MvcBuildViews>false</MvcBuildViews>
<SccProjectName>
</SccProjectName>
<SccLocalPath>
</SccLocalPath>
<SccAuxPath>
</SccAuxPath>
<SccProvider>
</SccProvider>

note: all of this is within the <PropertyGroup> section of the file.

And, it works, site runs, and works as expected :-)

But this leaves me with a question, "have I broken anything in doing this?"

I just downloaded the latest preview to start having a look into, but I noticed the database file inside the folder is a .bak file. I tried to create an empty database and restoring from a file, but I got an error that database source is different from the backuped one. How should I restore the database?

Using both real card numbers and the publicly available test numbers, the CreditCard.IsValid method fails. Several published c# examples online also fail so this may explain the confusion. I found an example that works flawlessly. I've attached a subversion patch file that includes the change and a test to exercise both positive and negative test.

I had the same error. Like other guys are saying here, all you have to do is to add a couple of lines in your web.config to set the correct culture tu use in your application:
<system.web>
<globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en"/>
This allows you to run the application without doing big changes.

Hello,

This should be handled the right way if this is to be truly "internationalized" application.
There must be a setting for the default language (english as standard) and if there is no page content (or whatever type of content) for users culture then the default language is used. That would fix this kind of problems per default so people can set up the application and start adding content in their own language as needed.

Hi,

This error occurs because the GetPage method of the SimpleCMSRepository class queries the Pages table for a *URL* and a *Language Code* which is being obtained through the CultureInfo class, thus using your Regional Settings definition.

The problem is that, by default, the Pages table contains only records with the English culture (en), thus if you have a different configuration in your Regional Settings, the query returns zero records which causes this error in the View.

With that said, a quick fix would be to find out what is your current culture letters (System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName), and duplicate the records of the Pages table by changing the LanguageCode field to the appropriate two letters of your current culture. Of course, another solution would be to just update the table and change the LanguageCode field.

Anyway, this error should be handled in a better way, as it is impossible to figure out what is happening without debugging the code.
