Restoring database

description

I just downloaded the latest preview to start having a look into, but I noticed the database file inside the folder is a .bak file. I tried to create an empty database and restoring from a file, but I got an error that database source is different from the backuped one. How should I restore the database?

Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
you have to set the Overwrite flag in the restore options and change the path of .mdf and .ldf to reflect your local configuration.

I keep getting the error - "CommerceDB.bak is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally." when trying to restore to both Sql 2000 & 2005. Any ideas?

create your database in "D:\@SQL" and name the database logical file name "Commerce.MVC" when creating new database

Then run it in a query window (Select the Master database)

RESTORE DATABASE CommerceDB
FROM DISK = 'D:\CommerceDB.bak'
WITH REPLACE
